Punisher coming to Daredevil Season 2

I still haven’t finished Daredevil season one yet, but Marvel is already hard at work on the second season. And they kicked it off by announcing a major player in it-

Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher. And he’s being played by none other than Jon Bernthal, a former star of the Walking Dead, and having starred in Mob City and the Wolf of Wall Street.

Additionally, a promo logo- though not the official one- has been unveiled.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Review

A late review, but here it is.

Avengers Age of Ultron.jpg

The Avengers must reunite when a killer and unstoppable A.I, Ultron, intends on eradicating humanity for good.

Many people say that you can’t get a sequel right and as good as the first one. There are outliers out there that prove otherwise, such as Star Trek into Darkness, but mostly the method applies all the time. For Avengers, Age of Ultron is in the middle. It doesn’t surpass Avengers’s awesomeness, but at the same time is an interesting psychological and status-changing entry into the comic-based universe.

Let’s start with the titular heroes first. Each one brings some interesting slices to the dinner table- Iron Man is naive, cap’s authoritative, black widow and hulk are in a relationship, Thor is incredibly buff, and Hawkeye definitely fits in quite well as the team’s jokester. Combine all that, and you have the regular dysfunctional family. The key difference, however, in this film is that the individual members are highlighted with side stories, like ideologies and family. Now, i know some people are against this, but these stories are okay with me.

The real meat, though, is Ultron. Unlike previous MCU, he’s really smart and complex. And he’s not stupid; Ultron’s not like Loki, someone who is so evil that he fails once the heroes prevail. Being a big threat to the team, and the earth, makes him probably the best villain we have seen yet

The only things i have problems with are two things: cut out scenes and a darker tone. Some great moments from trailers were cut out, making me feel a bit cheated. Luckily, it all worked out okay, but next time i hope a lot isn’t cut out again. And while the darker tone is not bad, it definitely strips the film of a lot of humor.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is not the best comic film, but it definitely is an intriguing one. For all the effort and awesomeness it generates, i’ll give it an 8/10.

Ant-Man # 2 Review

Scott Lang is ready to start again in Miami, but first he needs a little money….

Issue One of this new book had me hooked, and for a multitude of reasons. Scott Lang interests me due to his personality, powers, costume, history, and most of all, sense that his choices are good (when they can really be not quite good.)

Uncanny Avengers # 1 Review

printSizeImage

In the wake of AXIS, a new Avengers Unity Squad must form.

If there’s one way to start off a new Avengers book, it’s with style.

The last Uncanny Avengers series (which i didn’t start getting until #7) was slow paced and eventually caused many repercussions. but this issue kicks off the story and follows with dynamic action, fun dialogue, and amazing art in just one issue.

The new members are great as well. Quicksilver’s arrogance, Vision’s flaws, Doctor Voodoo’s caution, and Sabretooth’s southern-style accent make for a great combination. Also, there seems to be a lot more diversity. In the last book, pretty much everyone was white. Now we have four white people, two black peoples, and an android. So i think the book speaks for itself when it wants to add more diversity to the line.

Lastly, like always Daniel Acuna’s art is top-notch. Everything, from cities to colors to even background characters who have nothing to do with the plot are perfectly portrayed.

All in all, Uncanny Avengers is a great first issue. And i hope to see more of this kind come out soon.

AWESOME

Charles Soule writing UNCANNY INHUMANS

Ever since Marvel Now began, new adjectives have spread. “All-New” went from All-New X-Men to All-New Invaders, All-New Ghost Rider, and All-New Invaders. “Amazing” went from Amazing spider-Man to Amazing X-Men. And “Uncanny” went from Uncanny X-Men to Uncanny Avengers. Speaking of the latter, though, it’s getting another time as a title, in Uncanny Inhumans.

Made by the creative team of Death of Wolverine – Charles Soule (Swamp Thing, Letter 44, She-Hulk, Wolverines) and Steve McNiven (Captain America, Civil War)- the book will launch as part of the expanding inhumans book group. #0 (pictured above) will come out in April and focus on Black Bolt’s efforts in Brazil to protect the Inhumans from nefarious forces.

Soule has also revealed that the time-traveling Kang will also be present, and the history of the Inhumans will be a big factor explored in the series.

Uncanny Inhumans launches with #0 in April.
